CLUB
NEWS & ACTIVITIES:
Despite more than 4 inches of snow in some areas, many members came out for the
April stamp club meeting. We all enjoyed a fun stamp craft project hosted by
teacher Leslee Shepler.
May is party month, the last meeting of
the school year. We tally up club points you’ve earned over the school year,
and you choose your gift which you can enjoy all summer long! See you May 16th!

Exhibit Class – Bring your exhibit materials and
show Keith what you have accomplished since last month’s meeting. Discuss what
to do over the summer. We hope to have a couple exhibits ready to go in early
November for a stamp show in Seattle at the Seattle Center.
Remember, throughout the summer, you
can always call Keith or I when you wish to work on your exhibits, and we will
meet here at the house to work on them.

A big Thank You to Boy Scout Troop 136
of Sacramento, California. The scouts provided assistance at the WESTPEX Stamp
Show Boy Scout Stamp Collecting Merit Badge Workshop on April 27. They helped
set up the laptop computer and overhead projector. They passed out materials
and set up my exhibit in frames. More Scouts turned out for this workshop than
anticipated, but we all had fun and Troop 136 scouts successfully completed
their Merit Badge; others are well on their way to completing it. Thanks for
your help at WESTPEX!

ALL EDUCATORS – The WESTPEX (San Francisco,
California) Educators Workshop was a success! Besides more than half of our
California educators, educators from New York and Utah were in attendance. We
managed to get everything done in our 3-hour time slot and everyone went home
with lots of goodies. It was great seeing you!

If you were not able to attend the
California Educators Workshop, you still have two more chances: Washington
state’s Educators Workshop is at the PIPEX stamp show, Seattle Center, on
Sunday, June 1, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. This is short of our 3 hours needed, but
we will do our best to complete everything on our itinerary.
The state of Oregon’s Educators
Workshop is at the National Topical Stamp Show in Clackamas (Portland), Oregon,
on Saturday, June 14, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
Whichever workshop you plan to attend,
be sure to come to the show early to view the exhibits, see what the dealers
have in stock and do any stamp shopping you may have as we close the show for
the day with both workshops. If you need help with any aspect of the show, feel
free to ask us for assistance. We will generally be at the Youth Stamp
Collectors booth, or you can call me on my cell phone at 425-530-2863.
Look forward to seeing everyone at the next two workshops! (Remember, only one
workshop each year so we have enough material for everyone).
If you are not able to attend an
Educators Workshop, you will receive your packet with the summer newsletter.
Have a great summer everyone!

OTHER THINGS – Have you ever seen old British

to view one gentleman’s collection of postal boxes. He has over 200 in his
collection. These are full size boxes, not replicas. Enjoy!

And the hunt is on….Have you seen the
first Kosovo stamps since their declaration of independence on February 18,
2008? They issued two stamps celebrating that inde-pendence on March 19. The
stamps represent the hard work and the sacrifice of the Albanian people for
their independence. These stamps imply pride, suffering and the blood that was
shed by generations of the Albanian people for this goal. Ask your local stamp
dealer for these Kosovo stamps.
