CLUB NEWS & ACTIVITIES: December 14 is our holiday party. I will bring the pick tubs so you can choose stamps to keep you busy over winter school break.

Exhibit Class – Sad news -- We have learned that the Boeing Stamp Show will not have exhibits at their January show. Since we are not ready to show our Bill Boeing exhibit, this will give us the time necessary to complete and show it at a later date. Our research is getting more complete. We are nearly ready to choose important words and phrases to lead us to philatelic material and to collecting items.

Our activity this month will be an exercise in choosing the important ideas from the story. This exercise will also assist you in your personal exhibit. I will provide a story to dissect and discuss how to change the story into a visual representation.

If you have more Bill Boeing research, remember to bring it to the meeting. I will add it to our stack.

Everyone should still be working on their personal exhibit. If you have made progress, please bring it to the meeting to share with the group. See you Friday!   ~ Keith

Reminder – If the school is closed on meeting night due to Snow and/or Ice, the meeting will be held in our home in Mountlake Terrace (address on Page 2).

school display window so other students can see how much fun we have at stamp club!

ALL EDUCATORS – New for WESTPEX 2008Scout Stamp Collecting Merit Badge workshop! Scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm (close of show) in the Santa Barbara Room (next to Santa Clara Room/Youth Activities). If you have a scout working on his merit badge, please have him complete the big project of the merit badge as we will not be able to work on it during the workshop, though I can view the project. I would appreciate the assistance of any California scout leaders attending the show! Let me know if you can help and/or how many scouts who wish to attend. Pre-registration is a must as seating is limited!

PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS – Do you have empty laserjet printer toner cartridges, empty color printer inkjet cartridges and cell phones you are no longer using (but still work)? If so, how about recycling them for Youth Stamp Collectors’ fundraising? All you have to do is gather the above items from home, work, relatives, friends and local businesses, package them in a sturdy box and ship to the Funding Factory, the fund raiser organization who recycles all these items. I have shipping labels direct to Funding Factory so you do not have to pay for shipping or figure out how to get them to us if you only see us once or twice a year. Once you package the items up and ship, drop us an e-mail and let us know how many toner and inkjet cartridges and cell phones you sent out. (This helps us keep track.) Funding Factory will inform us the current dollar value. There is no expiration date on this program; we are in it for the long haul. Thanks for your continuing support!
